First Semester

Rest - Receive - Restore

Our first semester is unique in its focus on REST, allowing our students to take respite from the distractions, pressure, and strife in their everyday lives. Through this time of REST in the finished work of Jesus Christ, our students will become equipped in His Grace to re-enter their community as confident co-laborers instead of weary wanderers.

Our first semester is unique in its focus on allowing our students to RECEIVE. There is a time to serve in the Body of Christ, but if we are to serve, we must do it from the strength that God provides (1 Pet. 4:11). Our first semester creates space for our students to sit at the feet of Jesus and receive from Him so that they can pour out to others from the overflow and gladness of their hearts.

Our first semester is unique in its focus on RESTORATION, allowing our students to return to the simplicity of Christ and restore the foundation of what God made us for: relationship, dominion, image-bearing, and fruit.

Students who join us in our first semester can look forward to engaging primarily with the Grace, Life, Reality, Intimacy, and Light of Jesus Christ, learning to receive in humility, walk with God, reckon in faith, abide in Love, and learn in meekness.

Application Materials

Below are the links to the Application as well as Parent and Character Referral forms.

Please submit your information, then use the buttons to access and share the application and referral pages.

The Character Referral should not be filled by a friend or sibling but rather by a mentor, Bible Study leader, counselor, teacher…etc.

Once you have submitted all three documents, we will schedule an informal Zoom or in-person interview at a time that is convenient for you.

Contact Joseph Jackson at joseph@legacyencounter.org with any questions.

**For applicants that are of age and no longer financially dependent on their parents, you may choose to have an additional character referral form submitted in place of the parent referral.

How many semesters do you offer

Currently, we offer a two 9-week semesters, one in the Summer and one in the Fall. We also offer 3-day and 5-day Intensives if you would like to get a taste for the rhythm and teachings of our school.

What is the ideal age for LEGACY

LEGACY typically accepts students into the training ages 18—30. However, we have found that those with some measure of “life experience” are able to best process the material.

How many students will be in my class

LEGACY accepts on average 20 students only. We strategically limit ourselves to this number for ministry intentionality and effectiveness. LEGACY does not aim to be "mega." What makes this ministry unique is its focus on the individual as a person and not a number. Jesus had 12 disciples. It seems that Paul trained about 8. (This is how we came to the number "20". And now you know!)

Where will I live

You will be living in our gals’ and guys’ houses for the semester. Each house has a communal living room, laundry room, and full kitchen. Each bedroom has four comfortable, custom bunk beds, each with a curtain, shelf, reading light, and a shared bathroom and closet.

Classes, worship, and meals all take place down at the Lodge, where you will spend most of your time. We also have full-time staff housing on the property and a guest house, lakefront, volleyball beach, wood shop, and beautiful surrounding forests.

How structured are the days

We like to implement a schedule that cultivates a steady rhythm for everyone. Most mornings and afternoons consist of class with Francois or other staff members. Some afternoons we have group work projects around the property as well as electives. Meals are always together as a group (except for breakfast which is at your own pace). Every afternoon you have free time, and some nights we have evening activities such as small groups, movie nights, corporate worship, group games, and sunset boat cruises. Weekends are typically very unstructured and laid back. We desire that your days are full but not overwhelming. We expect all students to steward their time and sleep well so they can be fully present and engaged in every activity.

Do you offer mentorship

As a school for discipleship, one of our greatest joys and priveledges as a staff is to pour into the student's lives. We desire to always be available for one-on-one prayer and mentorship and provide plenty of opportunities to minister and lead in group settings. We will not have answers for everything, but we would love to partner with you in petitioning your circumstances unto the Lord.

Can I tour the campus

Yes! We would love for you to visit and meet our team. Please contact us to schedule a visit.

What if I want to sign up for 1st and 2nd semesters at once

If you know you would like to apply for both first and second semesters, please indicate so on your application, and we will discuss the opportunity during your interview.
