Is it really worth it to delay my college education for a semester?
It depends. Are you in college to receive a degree, or to study so that you can both complement and fulfill the call of God on your life? Finishing your
college career a semester late is not the end of the world, really. Your time at LEGACY will allow you to re-evaluate your motives in college and will hopefully help you narrow your focus and hone your intensity during your studies.
For other students, LEGACY is a semester for spiritual emphasis and depth that lays a crucial and timely spiritual foundation. It may come before, during, after, or in lieu of college studies. Each student must be uniquely sensitive to the Lord’s leading and timing in this matter.
What is the ideal age to come to LEGACY?
LEGACY accepts students into the training ages 19–25. However, we have found that those with some measure of “life experience” are able to best process the material.
How many students will be at LEGACY?
LEGACY 2012 will likely have maximum of 20 students participating. We intentionally limit ourselves to this small number.
Where will I live and what will my living conditions be?
LEGACY has been blessed with the use of a beautiful farm in rural, west Alabama. Comfortable, dorm-style housing is located in the Barn and Dining Pavilion. Group bathroom facilities are on-site. All meals are provided at the community kitchen and dining facility.
Why is the campus so isolated?
Over the years we have found that short physical separation from the world’s culture for intense spiritual focus and renewal is very effective. The environment we have created at LEGACY is very monastic in nature with a strong emphasis on “togetherness.” Short isolation from the world’s culture serves our spiritual focus best.

Why does LEGACY live in community?
A well balanced spiritual community (the normal Church-life) is the surest anvil upon which the character of God is forged within an otherwise individualistic believer. Living in community is where our faith is put to the test; it is where theory very quickly has to translate into reality before one is found to be a hypocrite. This community aspect of LEGACY has consistently proven to be among the more enjoyable aspects of the Christian life for our students and something many students seek out upon returning to their own faith communities.
What type of food can we expect during the training?
You can expect excellent food that will nourish you holistically! Because we are a small student body and staff, meals will have an extra touch of excellence with consideration paid to nutrition, taste, quantity, and budget. You will love it!
Will I have any weekends off during LEGACY?
While we hope that your full focus and commitment will be given to your LEGACY experience, we do schedule approximately 3 off weekends during your time with us in Alabama. All dates and a detailed schedule will be provided via email to each applicant and posted on the web.
Can my parents and friends come and visit me during LEGACY?
LEGACY has an open door policy with parents and will always welcome their visits to the campus. However, we do recommend that parents let us know or prearrange visits, so that we can be sure that students are available to enjoy their time with parents. We will also have a predetermined evening each week that is open to anyone to join us for worship/teaching/fellowship . Friends are welcome to visit during these times but cannot visit otherwise, without special pre-approval. No overnight visits are allowed at LEGACY due to limited housing.
Will I receive college credit for this program?
Currently, LEGACY is unable to offer college credit for your participation.
How academic is LEGACY in nature?
“Smart” or not, you are welcome to come! Our training is not primarily intellectual in nature, although we do create an intense environment for spiritual comprehension and attention. We do not “test” students for a kind of grade nor will they have assignments beyond their capacity to deliver. We only ask our students to apply themselves according to the grace of God in their lives. Also, we intentionally promote self-study during the training that suits their style, interest, and ability best. LEGACY meets each student wherever they are in the academic spectrum.
Does the campus have internet and cell phone service?
Most all major cell phone carriers have service at the campus. Also, we do provide access to the internet through a computer workstation and limited wireless availability for laptop computers.
What will I do after LEGACY?
It is our hope that LEGACY will be the spring board for the destiny of God in your life! Past students have pursued further schooling, careers, and even ministry service. Based upon your interests and the calling of God, we will journey with you and aid you in taking the next step.
Is LEGACY a church or is it affiliated with a specific denomination?
LEGACY is not a church, nor does it affiliate with one specific denomination. LEGACY is a para-church organization with the goal of supporting the whole Body of Christ through our mentoring, teaching and discipleship. We are open to students of many varied backgrounds and adhere to our Statement of Belief in Jesus Christ. The director of LEGACY, Francois Fineberg, is an ordained minister, and all teachers and content at LEGACY are held accountable according to the orthodox teachings of the Word of God, the Bible.
